Symptoms of Ovarian Cysts

Most of the time, ovarian cysts are symptomless. They are usually found during routine exams by the gynecologist/obstetrician. However, symptoms can be present if the cysts twist or bleed. In some cases, women have reported the following symptoms associated with ovarian cysts:

  • Pressure and swelling in the abdomen
  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Pain in the ribs
  • Pain during the menstrual cycle
  • Tenderness in the breasts
  • Pain in the pelvic area, abdomen or lower back
  • Weight gain
  • Difficulty urinating, or frequent need to urinate
  • Spotting/bleeding
